2010 world lacrosse team Ireland

by jv
(dublin)

How can team Ireland come in 9th place when it scored 60 points and lost only one game. How can the Netherlands be higher than them?

Answer
Team Ireland played exceptionally well, but unfortunately it is a tournament, and they were eliminated when they lost the big one to Scotland 15-9 in the middle playoff round. That lost put Ireland in the round that was playing for positions 9-12. after that loss the best they could do was 9th which they did. I think Ireland should be very proud of their results overall. They were one of the tougher teams no question.

The Netherlands on the other hand won their middle round tournament which sent them into the round that played for positions 5-8 where they lost both of their games and finished 8th.

I think Ireland and Netherlands would have been a very good game. Unfortunately in tournament play many teams that are better get eliminated with one badly timed loss.

What a great thing for Lacrosse though to have the level of play improving around the world, and the 30 team tournament was awesome.

Lets get Lacrosse back in the Olympics. Thanks JV for the great question. Your boys did great. And European Lacrosse is very healthy I would say.
