Central Iowa Lacrosse Association

by Adam Edgington
(Des Moines, IA)

The Central Iowa Lacrosse Association was founded in October of 2008. It focuses primarily on the growth of the game in the Des Moines metro area. At the current time we allow players from high school to adult to participate. Experience is not necessary to participate! We are eager to work with new players!

Our goal is to establish a corp of experienced older players and then start a youth program. A women's program will be developed in enough interest is expressed. We are loosely affiliated with the West Des Moines Valley high school team. Eventually we would like to expand the number of high school teams in the metro.

I do not organize the women's stuff and have not heard from them in a while, but there is a link under the "Contact Us" tab on the CILA homepage. If you get nothing from them, click the Men's lacrosse link to email me directly.

You might be able to hook up with some female laxers on the CILA forums:

Great news Adam, I cant tell you how happy it makes me to hear new programs growing. It is the fuel that drives this website and my passion to keep it going. I would love for you to post some news and blogs in Stickbrain Village. I am working so hard to kick it off and could really use your guys help. And anyone else who wants to contribute. I do this site out of my own pocket and it is a labor of love. I need active peeps like you to help me push this resource to the next level. I have so many plans, but they mean nothing without participation. Please help us help you by adding a blog or other info at Stickbrain village. At the minimum you can register and say hi in our forums as a contribution to the cause. You can post your events there as well. I am trying to grow our events application which we are so excited about.

Find it here: http://village.simplylacrosse.com/events.html

Have fun guys and girls I hope and let em know how we can help. Lax on!!! Jamey

CILA
by: Adam Edg

We are having our first ever box league starting in November. We have experienced better than expected growth and are excited about the new league starting as our summer league winds down.
2010 sees us field a varsity and a jv team (Valley) for the first time. We will continue trying to set up new high school programs in the coming years.
We are actively seeking help establishing a womens/girls program in the metro as well.
To top it off, there will be an NLL game in Des Moines this December!

Good for you
by: Danny DiSantis

About 12 years ago we were where you are today in Louisville Kentucky. Now Louisville Ky has 20 local High School varsity boys teams. Plus 14 near by (outside of Louisville) high school varsity boys teams. There is 22 high school girls teams. As for the middle school ranks there is 26 boys and 9 girl teams. Louisville also has youth teams, boys 9 boy teams to the 5 youth teams. Just in the Louisville area schools there are a total of 105 teams. There is also men club teams to boot. If you preserver you too will be able to boast these numbers in about ten years. Good luck, enjoy the ride and don't take no for an answer.
