I'm interested in becoming an assistant lacrosse coach as a part-time job while I take online college courses. I still have a love for lacrosse so I believe this will be an excellent job for me to take on.

Men`s Head Coach Cologne, Germany

Availability: September 2014

Job Description: The Cologne Indians of Cologne (Köln), Germany are looking for an experienced, motivated, and dedicated lacrosse coach to lead our both men’s teams in the first Division and second Division. Our men’s team is one of the best six teams in the country and ranges in age (18 - 34) and experience, however shares a mutual passion to learn, work hard and succeed. We are seeking the right candidate with the experience to maximize our potential and the will to take us to the next level. The German National team is taking part at the world championships with 5 players from cologne, we are looking forward to even increase that number. This position involves running both men’s teams regular outdoor, evening practices three times a week for the first team and one practice for the second, along with game day preparation for weekends in season. In addition to that it would be nice to have someone with Box-Lacrosse experience as there are several Indoor tournaments in Germany and Europe. But this is not absolutely necessary.

Payment: In addition to the monthly payment of 300 Euros (which typically covers housing that we will help you find based on your preferences), we will assist you with acquiring a working visa for an income earning position such as teaching Business English. With the acceptance of our Head Coach offer you will be welcomed into a network of people whose goal it will be to make your transition living in another country as smooth as possible and your experience in Germany unforgettable. There is also the option to study in Cologne, as there are several universities offering a range of study abroad as well as graduate programs with significantly cheaper tuition compared to the US. (Info: http://www.pressoffice.uni-koeln.de )

Cologne: In addition to coaching our team, you will find Cologne and its one million inhabitants to be a great experience. You can take part in the cultural life of the city with its theaters, cinemas and variety of professional sports teams. Cologne is famous for the friendliness of its citizens as well as its active nightlife. There is plenty to do as you will soon find out, as your future team commonly meets in various places after hard-working practices and games to drink a Kölsch, the typical beer of Cologne, grill along the Rhine River and generally have fun together.

Cologne is also in a great location, as tournaments all around Germany and other countries are easily accessible and encouraged to attend for practice and team bonding experiences. These tournaments take place in such cities as Berlin, Munich (near the same time as Oktoberfest), Prague (Box-lacrosse), Vienna, Den Haag (Beach lacrosse in the Netherlands), Sofia (Bulgaria) and many more.

German Lacrosse: Compared to the US, German Lacrosse is still in its infancy but it generates more and more players, teams, and fans every year. At the moment there are about 20 women’s teams and 39 men’s teams in the country. Apart from the men’s and boys’ teams, the Cologne Indians also include a women’s and a girls’ team, Our teams are all very close to each other and are focusing on strengthening and developing our city’s program to increase lacrosse participation and simultaneously take our competition to a new level.

Qualifications: Collegiate playing experience, coaching experience and the dedication to work hard with us at a higher level are a must. Since nearly all Germans are able to speak English, speaking German is not necessary - just a passion for lacrosse. Due to working visa requirements and processes, a college degree is appreciated, with work experience in a business related field preferable and teaching experience helpful. The successful candidate should be organized, reliable and committed to growing a sustainable lacrosse program.

Apply: Help us to actively push lacrosse in Germany forward and take the opportunity to spend a fun year (or hopefully more!) in Europe by experiencing friendly people, the German culture and lifestyle as well as other European nations! To apply, please email Adrian Nolte
(adrian-n@gmx.de), and be sure to include some personal information, so that we can get an idea of you, as well as information about your coaching experience, age, etc. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me. Also check out www.cologne-indians.de and www.dlaxv.de for further information (both sites are available in German only).
