Desert Vista Lacrosse Club

by Jacquie Smiley
(Phoenix, Arizona)

The Desert Vista Boys Lacrosse Club was formed at Desert Vista High School in Ahwatukee (Phoenix), Arizona in 2000 by a student, Will Nolan. Although Will is no longer with us, the club has flourished and plays on a Phoenix field permanently dedicated to his memory. Thunder lacrosse is part of the Arizona Youth Lacrosse League (AYLL).

Our club now boasts full Varsity and Junior Varsity teams (the Thunder) with over 65 members; two middle school (6-8 grades) competitive teams, the Ahwatukee Storm and Lightning; and a developmental program for boys in 1st - 5th grades called the Ahwatukee Dragons. In 2007, both our Varsity and Storm middle school team finished 3rd place in the state!

In 2008 we are gearing up for a great season -- we have a new team of coaches working together with the goal of providing consistent, high-quality skills development from 1st - 12th grade. With a large, active board made up of lacrosse parents and community members, we have many social and sporting events and activities throughout the year, culminating in a Golf Tournament and Silent Auction in the spring.

Hello from somebody w DVL on Day 1
by: DV Lacrosse Original

Just ran into this website... great to see DV Lacrosse continues...

As an associate of the Original Desert Vista Lacrosse club I can't tell you how exciting it was to win the State Championship in the first year...

and how devestating it was to lose Will. He was the best player anyone had ever seen. Ever see somebody score twice from mid-field... with the long pole? We did. So sad that he was ill, and though it's been a while, we will never forget him.

God Bless his family, and so glad to see Desert Vista Lacrosse is still doing well.
