Club Tykers

by John

My son received invite to play on a club level team. What can do to earn playing time? What skills should he be working on in that age group to get him get to move up to lighting next year.

ANSWER
Number one thing a kid can do at any level is get on the wall. Spend hours every day throwing at the wall. https://www.simplylacrosse.com/wall-ball.html

The next thing he can do is take a ton of shots. The better he gets at handling the ball the better off he will be. Make him work both hands. Spend more time on his weak hand than his strong one.

Lastly work on his foot work. Practice moving laterally with the stick in his hands.

If you focus just on one thing make it the wall. It works his throwing, catching, and shooting. There is no substitute for it.

have fun
