by Tom Gibson
(Long Island City, NY)

Long Island City, NY, April 16, 2009 – Maverik Lacrosse, an innovative manufacturer of lacrosse equipment and lifestyle apparel, today announced that it will provide Team Fin, a new elite Jacksonville, Florida-based club lacrosse program with custom equipment (Dynasty gloves, pads and apparel) and instructional support from some of Maverik's "Soldiers": Stephen Berger, Paul Rabil, John Christmas, Kyle Sweeney, Jay Jalbert, John Gagliardi, Sean Lindsay, Kip Turner, Mike Springer and Stephen McElduff.

“Florida has become ground zero for the explosive growth lacrosse has experienced in recent years throughout the South,” said John Gagliardi, President and founder of Maverik Lacrosse. “We are confident that through our support of programs like Team Fin an exciting new talent pool of student athletes will realize their true potential and play at the Division I, II and III levels sooner than anyone would have imagined only a few years ago. Coach Matt Kerwick and Patrick Harnett are perfect coaches to help grow the sport in Jacksonville and other parts of Florida.”

“Having had a strong relationship with Gags (John Gagliardi) for many years and after having had the opportunity to coach him with Team USA, I know that he is a great leader in the lacrosse world on and off the field. Maverik works without reserve to develop innovative products and styles that kids like to wear and celebrate the game responsibly. We’re excited to provide Team Fin members with more value as a result of Maverik’s sponsorship of our program. One of the greatest things I have observed first-hand starting the men’s program at Jacksonville University is how people are hungry to help us grow the game in Florida. This has created a lot of great relationships, and we are fortunate to have Maverik aboard as an exclusive sponsor for Team Fin,” said Matt Kerwick, founder of Team Fin and head coach at Jacksonville University. “Another
great addition to Team Fin is the partnership of Maverik’s talented players. Stephen Berger, another great player from Team USA, was instrumental at our JU Winter Camp. We will have Team Maverik players at our events with regularity and they will combine with our Team Fin staff to provide our players with once in a lifetime experiences. I am proud of all our JU staff members and players who will be coaching Team Fin and am excited about adding the Team Maverik players to the line-up of coaches. The benefit to area players will be tremendous.”
