Redirect

by Parker
(Florida)

Redirection is key to the art of clearing. Drawing attack men that are riding you is essential to clears. Redirection starts with a defender, once he draws an attack men to him he can feed it back to the goalie or cross the field with a sweep. This causes the attack men to move farther distances and cover more ground. The key to redirection however is communication. Have communication with your goalie as well as your other defense men so they know where the ball is coming from. In defense communication is key.
