Columbia
by: Mark

Hey man,

I came across this site looking for a possible assistant coach. I played division 1 at PC and I have been an assistant coach in the Columbia area for the past three years. I have a year left of graduate school at USC and I had planned to look for a head coaching position when I was ready to teach full time. The recent split of one program and the start of some new teams, have forced my hand early. I have interviewed for three different positions in Columbia, and I have one left to interview for. I have been given a strong vote of confidence by one AD in particular and he is trying to secure a position for me.

The teams I know that are still looking for coaches, are Dutch Fork, Blythewood, and there is a new school Westwood. Herd they were going to start a team with the opening of the school this coming year. There are also some openings in the upstate at Greenville, Spartanburg, Dorman, and Mauldin. I also have reason to believe Ridge View in Columbia will be hiring a new coach, although this is not confirmed. All of these are openings that I have herd of. Most of these schools do not come to sites like this in search of coaches. IF you are seriously looking to be a head coach, it would be worth your while to contact the different AD's at these schools in reference to their Head Coach Openings. That is what I did, and I got 4 interviews out of it. While the upstate is more advanced, the Columbia area is starting to grow and compete.

Good luck, and maybe you can land one of these openings if you are interested. If not or if you want to be an assistant coach, I might be able to get you a stipend. If anything, it would get you into the area and if any other openings or new teams pop up, then it would be an easy transition.

Good Luck and email me if you want or need any more info mspiepoli@gmail.com
