How to start a lacrosse league?

by Hayden Pierce
(Arlington, Tx)

I was wondering how I could start a league in my area. I live in Arlington TX and the closest lacrosse league is in Coppell. I believe that I could get enough players to start a league, but everyone I know and have talked to either knows very little about the game of lacrosse or know absolutely nothing. Any help about how to get started would be much appreciated.

ANSWER
Thanks Hayden. Starting a Lacrosse League is much more than just finding some guys to play with. There are significant costs associated that should not be over looked.

You need to account for a budget and figure out how you are going to acquire and pay for things like field usage, officials, Field lining and maintenance, Goals, Players equipment, even things like balls. Also Insurance is a major consideration as well.

If you are not scared off by the prospect of raising some money there many ways you can go about fund raising and financing your league.

US Lacrosse has some great resources for starting a league and they even have a very affordable solution for insurance. I would strongly recommend you sign up for their starters program and take advantage of there great resources.

And of course there are great resources right here at SimplyLacrosse.com that you can take advantage of to help you in managing and promoting your new league, like our very easy to use Team and League manager.
